Breaking up post to say "Continue Reading"

Remember, this is for Typepad.

You need to make these changes BEFORE YOU START your post, (it's been pointed out to me you lose everything in a post once clicking these options. BUT, if you save the post once, you can go back and make this change and you shouldn't lose it.)

Ok, so open a new post. At the very bottom, under the "save" button, you'll see a link that says "Customize the display of this page."  Clicking this button opens a new window -- scroll down to "Post Screen Configuration" and under custom, check "extended post." Then hit save to close box.

Your new post screen will renew to show two entry boxes. The rest should be easy from there. (Whatever you want showing up as the blog entry, put in the first box.  Whatever you want showing up as the extension of the entry, put in the second box.)

Your next blog entry will by default show the two entry boxes.  If you want to only view one box (the normal setting), go back to "Customize the display of this page," and uncheck the "extended post" box.  Now, you don't HAVE to do this -- if you want it to always be there as a possibility, just leave it.  Your posts will only show up as an extended post entry if there is content in the second box.

If you ever want to go back and edit an extended post entry but your screen is only showing the regular post with one box, you will need to change the configuration to an extended post before you can edit the contents of the second box.  (I almost freaked out once when I wanted to change an entry and couldn't figure out where half of it went.  LOL.)
