Simple Scrapbooks Better Photos for your Scrapbooks
$6.99 soft cover mag 116 pages 26 pages of ads This issue has a lot of great layouts with amazing design, and great photos as the star of the layouts. But. There are very few photo tips in this issue that I haven't come across before (or that aren't common knowledge in the scrapbooking world.) The issue is organized by month. Each month's chapter heading has a "photo checklist" of opportunities that month presents for photos (which range from the painfully obviously to the puzzling and obscure.) Each month also includes a 1 or 2 page "photo tips" section by a random photographer (who I'm sure is fabulous, but he isn't introduced properly until the very end of the issue.) Every layout in the issue has commentary about the photos in the layout. Also interspersed through the issue are "featured photographers," Simple Scrapbooks' cool people holding a poster-sized version of their favorite photo and explaining why they love it. You know what's cool, though? Of the 81 layouts in the issue, 45 are multi-photo layouts! This is a first -- I don't think I've ever reviewed a book that had MORE multi-photo layouts than single. So yay! Overall this just seems like a special issue of great layouts. You want a great special issue about photos? Pick up the Scrapbooks, Etc.'s "Photography."
